Hey there Q-heroes, supporters and Kuwait,

It has been months since the last blog post but we’re back and ready get back to work again!  First of all, we would like to thank each and every single one of you for all the support we have received. Your support for this cause and the people involved in it has helped us get to where we are today and we wouldn’t have done that without all of you so from the bottom of our hearts, we gratefully thank you all for everything!

Now, we are pleased to announce that our next event will be on the 30th of July and it will be a food distribution rally in partnership with iGive. Basically, Equait team members will captain groups of 4 or 5. Each group is requested to prepare lunch boxes with food so that they can distribute them at the designated areas they are assigned to go to. There are many poor people across Kuwait who don’t have the same luxuries as us and have to work in this heat from dusk until dawn in order to put food on their tables. It is our duty as citizens of society and as human beings to provide these people with the proper meals they deserve for working so hard in the summer heat.

Muslim Genocide in Burma

Secondly, we are happy to announce that there is a second event happening this Ramadan as well. On August 3rd and 4th, we would like to invite you to take part in our campaign known as “Gergeea’an for Burma”. What’s happening is that right now, there is a mass genocide happening in the country of Burma as we speak. Fellow Muslims are falling victim to ethnic cleansing in Burma and nobody is talking about it or doing anything about it. That is why we need YOUR help to spread awareness about this massacre. No human being deserves to be treated like that; especially during this holy month. What we’re going to do is print out copies of the online petitions, in both english and arabic, and what we want you to do is to go from house to house during Gergeea’an, inform the people about what is going on in Burma and have them sign the petition. In  the end, we’ll gather up all the signatures, upload them to the online petition and, if the petition reaches 500,000 signatures, the petition will be sent to the United Nations Human Rights Council and they’ll finally be able to act on it. We will be having an orientation where we will talk about both events on the 29th of July at GUST so if you want to learn more about the events, join us there! We will announce the timings as soon as we can!

Finally, we have one more announcement to make concerning the blog. From August 23rd onwards, we are making the Equait blog an open contribution blog! We want to hear from you about your views about inequality in Kuwait and how it has affected you, the people around you or your own country. You are more than welcome to send us essays, videos, pictures or whatever suits your interests. We’re going to start featuring the best ones every Thursday from August 23rd onwards so if you have a story to share, send it to us by e-mail to We hope that by doing this, we will be able to learn about our supporters more and gain ideas for future events.

Well everybody, that’s it from me. I really hope you’re all excited about the news and we look forward to seeing you at the events!
