What is Pink Friday?
Let’s raise awareness against bullying and attend the Pink Friday walkathon! This will serve as a wake-up call for our society to stand up for the children and teens who are the victims of bullying. Why wear pink? It turns out that pink isn’t just the color for breast cancer awareness, but it’s also the international color for anti-bullying initiatives.
How did it start?
It all started back in 2005, when a ninth grader in Canada wore a pink t-shirt to school. Little did he know, he was later going to get ridiculed for it. The school’s student council witnessed this behavior and decided to do something about it. The next day, they distributed pink t-shirts to the students. Every one was to wear them, except for the boys that had bullied the child that had originally wore pink. From that day on, the Pink T-Shirt/Pink Friday initiative against bullying spread throughout the globe through various schools and universities.
Join us on Friday the 2nd of December with your pink attire and walk in honor of a good cause! We looking forward to see you!
